During World War I and II, physicians used garlic as an antibiotic to prevent soldiers’ wounds from becoming gangrenous; had fantastic results.
*Based on clinical studies, ESCOP (European Scientific Cooperative on Phytotherapy) recognizes the following indications for garlic: “Prophylaxis of atherosclerosis. Treatment of elevated blood lipid levels insufficiently influenced by diet. Improvement of blood flow in arterial vascular disease.” ESCOP also noted that garlic has been used traditionally for relief of cough, colds, catarrh, and rhinitis, although clinical trials are not as abundant to support such uses.
Alcohol is a very effective solution in mobilizing the herbal properties that are active within plant cells, and is an excellent preservative.
Through our experience, recovering alcoholics do not have any problems during or after taking the Strauss Heartdrops®. When taking a serving of 15 drops the most alcohol ingested is approximately 6 drops. It takes 160 drops to make a teaspoon.
If you are still concerned about consuming alcohol then there is a very simple solution. Simply add the drops to a little (1/8 oz) hot water and then leave for a minute or two, then drink on an empty stomach. This will make the alcohol evaporate off, while maintaining the benefits of the herbs.
ReferencesThe Strauss family has been aware of the medicinal benefits of herbs for centuries, to assist in validating their beliefs and to supply additional information on herbs we have supplied some historical uses of the individual ingredients comprised from both Traditional and Modern herbal books.

After only six weeks intake, natural killer cell activity was within the normal range for all subjects. Further, patients in this study noted improvements in diarrhea, candidiasis, pansinusitis with recurrent fever and interruption of recurrent cycles of genital herpes
