While reading my favorite (guilty pleasure) magazine, I came across an advertisement for Akavar, a new weight loss pill by Dynakor Pharmacal. The ad asserted that you could still lose weight without any major dietary changes. Obviously intrigued, I did a little more research about the pill and found out it is actually a caloric restrictor. A little more digging and I found out just what a "caloric restrictor" is.
What is Akavar?
A caloric restrictor helps to curbs hunger, enabling you to feel not as hungry and eat less than you normally would. So essentially, Akavar allows you to consume smaller portions, which is a major component of successful weight loss.
One of Akavar's slogans is "eat all you want and still lose weight." While I would always recommend pairing the use of a weight loss supplement with a sensible diet and regular exercise, that logic does make sense once you understand how a caloric restrictor is intended to work.
Does Akavar Really Work?
So I decided to give it a try. While I am not grotesquely overweight, I could definitely stand to lose a few pounds (like most Americans). I figured Akavar could give me that little push I needed to help me lose the weight faster and much easier.
Surprisingly, I did not feel at all deprived even though I was eating slightly less. There were times I still had to practice self control (not eat the second piece of cake or grab the bag of chips), but I am convinced overall it worked and helped me reach my weight loss goals. Sometimes I can be slightly sensitive to caffeine but I didn't have any problems with Akavar; however, I would recommend you take Akavar with a little food just to ensure the caffeine does not make you jittery.
Anyone considering using supplements for weight loss, whether a caloric restrictor or other form of diet pill, should do use them in conjunction with healthy eating and adequate physical activity. A weight loss supplement is really only one part of the weight loss process. You still need to have some self discipline and motivation in order to reach and retain your target weight. And remember...have patience! Weight loss can be a long and trying process.
